Hair Dye Question...?

All right so my band is shooting our music video soon and we're all gonna get some crazy hair coloring for it. I personally want to get the front sides of my part dyed blonde. The same style that Claudio Sanchez from Coheed and Cambria has. (I have similar hair). Now I don't want to go to a salon to do this. Any tips on how to do it my self.
