Why do people say it's easy to make friends when it's not? considering my situation?

I was in the same situation. The only friend I had for years was my boyfriend and he got tired of seeing me everyday haha. I worked as a cashier at a grocery store and everyone I worked with would go out and do things together. I never went haha. So I finally decided to get some of their numbers and would call them on the weekends to see what they were doing. They would invite me to hang out sometimes and I met people through them. At school just talk to people next to you in cl. It was hard for me to hang out with people from school because I commute and hour and a half each day to get there, and most people live on campus. So my advice is to just be forward. Ask people you work with what they are doing for the weekend and see what happens. But dont invite yourself because people hate it when people do that haha. good luck.
